Number 9 is the number of Universal love, eternity, faith, karma, spiritual enlightenment and awakening, service to humanity, positive example and philanthropy, self-sacrifice and selflessness, soul purpose and a higher perspective, romance, inner-strength, responsibility, and intuition. It’s also the number of years that VoipNow has been around to bless service providers with UC goodness 🙂 .
If you ask different people from different cultures, number 9 has a considerable span of meanings.

It’s not exactly how the saying goes, but in the case of Guillaume Rolland’s aromatic alarm clock, “wake up and smell the money” is really quite accurate. This 18-year-old French entrepreneur has come up with an ingenious alarm clock that uses scents instead of ear-ripping beeps and dings to wake people up. The craziest thing about it is that it actually works, according to those who’ve used it.

MPW stands for a lot of things. Including Melbourne Performance Warehouse or Macintosh Programmer’s Workshop. More recently, however, the acronym took on a different form. Today, MPW often refers to Most Powerful Women in Business. Women executives in general (but not limited to the C-suite).
After reading “Memories, Dreams, Reflections” by Carl Gustav Jung, Iulia instantly knew what she wanted to do in life. Passionate people are lucky like that. They realize from a very early age what they want to become, and they will stay on that path regardless of the hurdles that lie ahead.
A licensed psychotherapist and a certified Aware Parenting Instructor, Iulia Feordeanu didn’t settle for a life in the office. At our monthly Labors of Hercules meetup, she shared with us how she helped create the Association Sol Mentis (which she now runs), an NGO that provides emotional support for vulnerable communities. Most of Iulia’s efforts are geared towards finding ever-more-efficient ways to aid disadvantaged individuals everywhere. She believes helping children who’ve had a bad start in life is the best thing she can do with her expertise. So she’s made it her life’s mission.
In a tweet directed at its relatively few followers last September, Ninja Infographic shared an interesting list of 9 must-do things to to stay productive. Few people are able to follow this entire set of rules on a daily basis, but I would like to highlight one of them as the cornerstone of office work (in my opinion, at least).
In a recent blog entry, we touted collaboration as the key to a better world. We based it on the research of one John Velez, Assistant Professor at the College of Media & Communication, who discovered that co-op gaming improves social behavior. But while collaboration betters the world in general, it’s not necessarily the recipe for better marketing.

Whether it’s God or physics that dictates this, apparently things must go askew every once in a while for existence – of any form – to make sense.
I’ve long believed that our world (perhaps even the whole Universe) would have no sense being perfectly balanced in every way. What’s the purpose of things being any different later if they’re okay the way they are now, right? Or, why is there such diversity in nature? Maybe I’m asking all the wrong questions, but apparently George Bernard Shaw saw things in a similar manner.
Now that we know what not to do in meetings, let’s have a look at some of the Do’s. Specifically, what you need to arm yourself with before going into the meeting room.
So what are the top five things you should always be prepared for when attending an office conclave?
The web is chock full of advice regarding meetings and how to tackle them. Do this, don’t do that, here’s what to say to appear smart, and the list could go on. Personally, I think it all boils down to five Don’ts and just as many Do’s. I’ll save the positive ones for a later post. Right now, let’s look at what you shouldn’t do in a meeting. No ifs or buts.
