Have you ever felt like all the great ideas for business have been snagged by others? Making it big is difficult enough, but it’s even harder when you have competition lurking around every corner.
Every successful business seems to be sitting on a single great idea that has been either patented or cannot be replicated without tons of cash and manpower. So, you’re left wondering: are all the great ideas taken? Surely not. The world is constantly on the move, and any new development spawns new opportunities as well. It’s not just how this world works. The entire Universe is governed by this entropic quality.
People will try to tell you that all the great opportunities have been snapped up. In reality, the world changes every second, blowing new opportunities in all directions, including yours.
The name Hakuta may or may not ring a bell, but if you’re a millennial living in America, there is a fair chance you’ve seen (or at least heard of) the man. Hakuta is an inventor and a TV personality. He was the host of The Dr. Fad Show (a kids invention show) which aired from 1988 to 1994. On the program, he would feature kids’ inventions while promoting creativity and fun, wacky ideas.
He popularized the Wacky Wall Walker, a hugely successful toy that became even more popular when Kellogg Company started inserting them as prizes in cereal boxes. Those were the times!
Hakuta received the Inventor of the Year Award from the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, and has been featured in countless articles and video segments, including in The Washington post, The New York Times, USA Today, TIME, Newsweek, Forbes, 60 Minutes (CBS), The Tonight Show, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, and many others (radio shows included).
