Relying purely on luck has rarely yielded anything truly extraordinary. If you want to achieve something great, chances are you’ll need razor sharp focus and a lot of perseverance.
According to an Indian bloke who lived between 1863 and 1902, focus is crucial if you want to be successful. He didn’t mention a particular field or anything like that, but this memorable quote of his should apply just about anywhere.

For about $30 million you can hop aboard a Soyuz spacecraft and admire the vastness of the Cosmos thousands of miles above the Earth atmosphere. By all accounts, space tourism is out of reach for most people, and it’s not getting more affordable any time soon.

They say a company’s best assets are its people, and there are a few dozen quotes out there that will tell you the exact same thing with slightly different words. Lee Iacocca said it too, but he also stressed how to keep those people at the company, entice them to do great work, and move the company forward every day.

Everyone is personally responsible with finding that certain something that drives them to get up in the morning and start their day. Some find that impulse in money and fame, while others prefer less materialistic incentives, such as art or gardening.
“The best way to predict the future is to invent it.”
Alan Kay uttered this quote in a fit of passion at a 1971 meeting of PARC (Palo Alto Research Center), and it’s as true today as it was back then.

Solutions to most of the world’s biggest problems are well within our reach, yet somehow we don’t seem to be making much progress. Wise minds like Ban Ki-moon see this all too well. And he’s also well positioned to drive some much-needed change.
Born June 13, 1944, Ban Ki-moon is the eighth and current Secretary-General of the United Nations. He suceeds Kofi Annan to the role, and he is a former career diplomat in South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in the United Nations.
