Maya vs. Programmers – 1:0

I watch TV only when I have to, and most times I switch to Discovery or National Geographic. In the past weeks I’ve switched on the TV when they were running some programs about Maya civilization. There are plenty of interesting things to say about Maya, but instead all these programs were focused on the Maya calendar and the end of world.

The problem seems to be that all Maya calendars discovered end in 2012… And guess what, we are close to the end of 2012.

Commercial televisions want more show to attract watchers, but I guess it’s not the right thing to do here. Otherwise, I might suggest a very, very good title for a new program, which is 100% in line with their logic and desire to make the sensational hunters enjoy the show:

Maya, Much Smarter than Computer Programmers?

You might be surprised 😀 Programmers of the sixties represented the time in a signed 32-bit integer, as seconds passed since 00:00:00 1 January 1970. While Maya at least had a time vision for millenniums, programmers barely covered half a century…

As an alternative, I suggest the following titles:

2038 – Is the End of World Coming?

The Hidden Truth. Programmers Predict End of World in 2038.

Programmers Didn’t Have It Long Enough.

Anyway, by looking at these two issues, there are far more chances for the world to come to an end in 2038 rather than in 2012.
