The date is December 18. The year 2015. And Verb Days is back in the house!
We’re live from Verb Days 4.0, the fourth edition of our annual hackathon. Five teams brimming with coding badassery and creative prowess are about to duke it out in the open space area of our HQ. This year’s mission? Give birth to a brand new and exciting integration with Hubgets, our teamwork app. As part of this year’s contest, we’re not just having fun, we are also making Hubgets a better collaboration tool for every user.
The main evaluation criteria for each project remains unchanged. Innovation will count the most, while each team will have to pick a member who doesn’t fumble with words to give a presentation of their brainchild. If we’re going to offer it publicly, we’ll have to be the first to like it.
Let the hacking (and the liveblogging) begin!
On your marks…

Ladies and gentlemen, the vote has just ended and ta-da… Paper Diggers and their PaperCut project are this year’s winners!
Competition was really tough as two more teams, IceBreakers and Costin’s Angels, came in very close behind them.
Congratulations to everyone! It’s been close to 19 hours of fun and teamwork, so we’ve all won tonight ๐
Stay tuned, we’ll be back with details.

โDo. Or do not. There is no try.โ
That’s what Yoda would have said, had he been in the house today ๐ Only 15 minutes left till presentations. Never mind the tired looks, after 16 hours of coding, everybody’s determined to win. Just, see for yourself ๐
‘I’m telling you, it will work! Just wait.’
‘Wait, go back! What was that?’
‘Trust me, guys, it’s working!’
‘Well, it worked on my machine!’
‘I’m not nervous, really…’
‘Say what?’
‘It’s so cool it hurts.’
‘We’re gonna kick ass!’
‘I’m impressed.’
‘You should be, I’m an engineer.’

As night falls, it becomes obvious that at least team Can#Touch#This is prepping something mobile. But what is it? ๐
Hurry up guys! Every minute counts!
16:35 PM
Competition heating up as some teams begin to feel the pressure. Others? Cool as a cucumber. We can safely start to place our bets right about now ๐
13:00 PM
It’s been a while. Let’s browse through the ranks again. Santa & Friends is the only team I haven’t bothered yet. Not wasting another second, I drop in uninvited. Vladut welcomes me with his ever smiling gingery face and a busted clavicle from a bike accident. His doctor called him in today to have his cast removed. Heroically, he’s still wearing it โ not wanting to cause his team any delays. #Teamwork, baby! ๐
10:00 AM
My next visit is brief. Team Can#Touch#This is pressed for time, having started two hours later than everyone else.
Guess I’ll leave these folks alone for the time being. There’s still a whole day ahead with plenty of opportunities to sneak by and catch a glimpse of their development.
8:20 AM
Feel like meeting another team? So am I. The Paper Diggers look pretty relaxed. Let’s see what they’re up to!
Marina (top right), whom I suspect will be tasked with lifting the cloth off the finished product for the limelight, is happy to let me in on their progress on the condition that I take it with me to the grave. Or at least until the hackathon is over. Challenge accepted, Marina.
8:00 AM
Passing by Costin’s Angels feels like piercing through a veil of secrecy. Cautious-in-Chief Lia breaks the silence admitting they’re a bit behind schedule due to the size of their plans. I ask what those are and instantly get the stink eye.
Okay girls, point taken. Time to scram ๐ฎ
7:30 AM
Breaking the ice with the first lines of code are, coincidentally or not, team IceBreakers. These early birds say they’re not worried about not finishing on time, but let’s hope that doesn’t mean their integration isn’t ambitious enough. Fingers crossed, guys! Let me know if you want a Frappรฉ or something.
