VoipNow Mobile 2 Arrives with Video Calls, HD Voice, and Enhanced Privacy

VoipNow Mobile 2.0 is available

There’s an undeniable edge to bringing your own device (BYOD) to work. It makes everything more productive and less complicated, this is what company’s employees think. How about IT departments? When using VoipNow Mobile, they are all happy. And to make them even happier, a couple of days ago we released VoipNow Mobile 2.0 that comes with video support, crystal clear HD voice even in difficult network conditions, and enhanced privacy for both voice and video calls.

SRTP-DES encryption

VoipNow Mobile turns your iPhone or iPad into a business PBX extension that can be used anywhere. When it comes to business calls, or any other call for that matter, privacy is paramount. That’s why we made it a priority to equip VoipNow Mobile with strong encryption and an extra layer of security. With this feature, companies are able to restrict the completion of calls that are not properly encrypted and cryptographically authenticated.

High quality video calls

Security aside, you can now place and receive video calls over a 3G, 4G, or Wi-Fi connection. The supported iDevices are iPhone 5, iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and all iPads currently in circulation today. The codec we’ve used to enable this is the almighty VP8. Also dubbed WebM, it offers compression ratio and video quality superior to H.264.

Opus HD audio

Audio-wise, thanks to the new Opus HD codec, the app now offers high definition (HD) sound quality, so you can hear your calling partner crystal clear. Opus is unrivaled when it comes to interactive speech and music transmission over the web, and it’s even used in things like in-game chat and remote live music performances. Think of it as crème de la crème of audio codecs 😀 To check the audio optimizations made in this new version, we ran some tests in various network conditions. The results are impressive – exceptional good audio quality even on poor wireless networks with up to 30% package loss.

If you’re a service provider, you can start offering VoipNow Mobile by joining our Service Provider program. Carriers have the option to license and re-brand the app as their own, while end-users can download it for free from the App Store right now.

Happy (private) calling 😉
